amongan – Fifth-semester students of the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Islamic Economics at Universitas Muhammadiyah Lamongan (UMLA) are participating in an Impactful Internship Program for one semester as part of an experiential learning process designed to strengthen their professional skills and readiness for the workplace.
Through this program, students have the opportunity to gain direct experience at partner institutions. The internship allows them to apply the knowledge they have learned in the classroom to real workplace situations while developing practical skills and professional attitudes.
The students are placed at three partner institutions: BTM Mulia Head Office, IZI East Java, and Muhammadiyah Hospital Lamongan.
Learning Through Real Work Experience
During the internship, students gain direct experience in various institutional and professional activities according to the characteristics of their respective workplaces. They have the opportunity to develop communication, administration, customer service, teamwork, problem-solving, and professional skills.
The program connects classroom theory with real-world practice. Students are encouraged to identify work activities that are relevant to the competencies of the Islamic Economics Study Program and reflect on their experiences as part of their academic learning.
Internship Experience Recognized as Academic Credit
An important part of the Impactful Internship Program is the recognition of students’ learning experiences through an academic credit conversion system.
The students’ internship results will be converted into grades for relevant courses based on the knowledge, competencies, activities, and learning experiences gained during the internship.
Therefore, the conversion is not based solely on attendance at the internship institution. It also considers the learning outcomes achieved by students while carrying out their duties and responsibilities.
Through this system, students’ professional experiences can become part of their academic learning. This approach provides students with a more contextual learning experience that is relevant to the needs of the professional world.
The Impactful Internship Program is expected to develop graduates who have not only strong theoretical knowledge but also practical skills, adaptability, professionalism, and readiness to enter the workforce.
For the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Islamic Economics, this internship also strengthens collaboration with partner institutions and supports the development of learning that is increasingly connected to the needs of society and the professional world.
