The Islamic Economics Study Program (Prodi) at Muhammadiyah University of Lamongan (Umla) is opening new student admissions (PMB) for the 2023/2024 academic year.
The first wave will be open from November 28, 2022, to July 8, 2023. The second wave will be open from July 10 to August 12, 2023, and the third wave will be open from August 17 to September 30, 2023.
This program offers classes ranging from regular classes, employee classes, and even international classes. Muhammad Ramizal Syahidin, a fourth-semester student, shared his impressions of his time in the Islamic Economics Study Program (Eksyar) at Umla.
According to him, the study program is very well supported by the lecturers. Although the Eksyar program itself is relatively new, all the lecturers in the program support their students in various ways to foster innovation and broad-mindedness. "I gained new and interesting knowledge, most importantly, the perspective on economics from an Islamic perspective," he said.
In addition, they gained knowledge about the differences between conventional and Islamic economics, and how they can directly become players in the Islamic economic market.
Ramizal—as he is familiarly known—hopes that this year's Islamic economics admissions program will accelerate and advance even further, fostering a competitive, rabbani economic spirit among new students who will eventually become part of the extended family of the Umla Islamic economics study program.
Meanwhile, Alifatus Zahroh, a second-semester student, shared his first impressions of his time in the Umla Islamic economics study program. "After entering the Islamic economics study program, I felt the openness and warmth of the lecturers, who are very committed to embracing their students," he said.
I also gained different experiences and insights. "Considering my background in science, I switched to Islamic economics," he said.

According to this outstanding student, the Islamic Economics study program has excellent potential and capabilities to address various problems in society. The stigma that exists in society is that anything based on "Islamic" cannot lead to decisions. In fact, Islamic economics offers a win-win solution.
"From this, I finally feel I carry a mandate to convey to society that an Islamic-based economy can realize the common good, because it's not solely profit-oriented," she said.
She added, "During my studies, the main point I learned is that every human activity, from the smallest to the largest, must have a justifiable basis and source."
"In the context of Islam, of course, everything will return to the Quran and Hadith, but it must be emphasized that Islamic economics does not contradict or contradict pre-existing economic theories," she explained.
However, she continued, Islamic economics will utilize existing theories if they align with Islamic principles, and will abandon those that do not.
"Essentially, during my studies in the Islamic economics program, I strive to be a more open-minded individual, able to view emerging situations while adhering to the Quran and Sunnah as the best basis for resolving them," said the woman born on September 16, 2022.
Finally, Tutus—her nickname—hopes that Islamic economics will become more widely known among today's youth, considering that the problems emerging in this era are diverse and very complex. Who else but young people will ultimately face and provide solutions to each problem?
