Baitul Tamwil Muhammadiyah (BTM) Mulia Babat welcomed a visit from the Islamic Economics Study Program of Universitas Muhammadiyah Lamongan (UMLA) on Thursday (June 22, 2023) at the BTM Mulia Babat head office.

From UMLA’s Islamic Economics Study Program, lecturers Farokhah Muzayinatun Niswah, S.EI., M.Si., and Dita P. Kusumaningtyas, S.E., M.SEI., along with sixth-semester students, attended the visit. The delegation was warmly welcomed by the board members, including BTM Mulia Babat’s Chairman, Arif Rahman Saidi, S.E., M.Hes.; Treasurer, Mamik Isoworo Rini; Sharia Supervisory Board (DPS) member, Ustadz Tholhah; and Manager, Ari Purwanti, S.E.

In her presentation, BTM Mulia Babat’s Manager, Ari Purwanti, S.E., explained that BTM Mulia’s vision is to be a strong and independent sharia-based economic enterprise. She highlighted the advantages of BTM Mulia, such as its commitment to conducting all business activities in accordance with sharia principles, providing easy services, offering more affordable financing, competitive profit-sharing rates for savings, and more.

Ari Purwanti expressed her delight and strong support for this study visit. “In addition to allowing the Islamic Economics students of UMLA to gain insights into the real-world conditions of the sharia financial sector, they can also directly compare the theories learned in class with actual practices,” she said.

She further added, “As a sharia financial institution, we can also educate and promote sharia-based transactions to UMLA students.” Therefore, she hopes that UMLA’s Islamic Economics students will be ready to enter the workforce, apply the knowledge they have acquired, and share it with their peers as well as the wider community.

“And also, not easily give up when facing challenges related to this matter, because society in general is still closely attached to the conventional system and many are not yet familiar with sharia principles and contracts,” she concluded.
